Whole Foods Takes Food Out of its Natural Packaging and Puts it in Plastic
Whole Foods wasn’t thinking clearly when they decided that their customers would appreciate their effort to improve upon the orange peel as packaging. The grocery giant instructed its employees to peel the oranges, place them in plastic containers, and label them, “Made Right Here.” Their nature-loving customers freaked out, and Whole Foods apologized, admitting that the orange peel offers superior packing, and plastic is less-than-desirable.
The oranges in question were Sumo Mandarin Oranges, which are naturally a bit smaller than traditional oranges and have very thin peels with little pith that are easy to remove.
