Revisiting Childhood Memories with “Imagine Finding Me”
Revisiting childhood memories was an essential part of photographer Chino Otsuka’s impressive project entitled, “Imagine Finding Me.” Through electronically-aided time travel of sorts, Otsuka’s photos merge two worlds; old and new. The photos in this ground-breaking series feature a grown-up Otsuka along side her child-self. Inserting an image of her self as she looks today into photographs of her childhood allows the child to meet the grown-up version of herself in a way.
The artist’s work is on display at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, The Wilson Centre for Photography in the UK, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
