This Mind-Blowing Sculptural Display is the Brain Child of Tokyo University of the Arts Student, Isana Yamada
Staged at the Tokyo University of the Arts, and scheduled to appear in an exhibition of popular sculptural works between March 1 and March 6, 2016 at the Artcomplex Center of Tokyo, Isana Yamada’s Samsara’s mind-blowing sculptural display is causing quite a stir in the art world.
The exhibit includes six translucent whales carefully mounted on thin pedestals, making the sculptures seem weightless and dream-like. With an illusion of movement, each whale represents the circle of existence referenced in Buddhist traditions.
Each whale depicts a different scene. Representing human dimension, one sculpture holds a sunken sailboat symbolizing a difficult journey. Contained within these amazing resin sculptures are floating polar bear skeletons, white clouds, and submarine volcanoes.
